(CBS4) Online dating has become one of the most popular ways for singles to meet, with 22 million people searching for a web love match. But how do you know if what you see on the computer is what you'll get in person? There are some ways you can find out before you go out.

Kelly Valente and Brian McFarland have been dating for eight months. They met through a new website called Greatboyfriends.com. "Every guy on the website is vouched for by a female" says Kelly.

That's right. Men have to be sponsored by another woman. It can be an ex-girlfriend, a relative or a friend. Kelly explains why this is important. "I think a lot of girls look for that security that another girl thinks that this guy is okay."

Brian was sponsored by a college friend. She wrote his profile, not Brian. "I originally thought I would be able to go in and edit it afterwards so I could fix things I didn't like, but it turns out, that's not the case," says Brian.
